n 2008, a Tucson Police Department member's child was diagnosed with a terminal illness and employees began collecting donations to assist the family. They quickly realized that there had to be a better way to provide financial assistance to Department members in these situations. This was the beginning of Hearts of Gold. For the next 11 years, the program operated with the full support and under the umbrella of a larger non-profit organization.
In 2019, the decision was made for Hearts of Gold to create its own nonprofit entity and operate as a self sustaining charitable organization. Hearts of Gold Police Family Outreach Foundation was born and is eager to continue and enhance the good work for which it has become known over the past decade.
Here are just a few things that Hearts of Gold can help with:
Financial assistance for the following Hearts of Gold Programs:
Assistance requests for qualified participants who suffer a catastrophic event creating a financial hardship.
Holiday Hearts ~ Helping Department members in need during the holiday season.
Scholarship Program ~ Hearts of Gold participants and/or their family members may apply for scholarships to assist with post-secondary education.
Department Member Wellness Program ~ Dedicated to improving health, morale, and overall wellness for members of the Tucson Police Department.
Financial support for Tucson Police Department related events and activities. Some examples may include but are not limited to:
